![]() ![]() It seems that you set your aperture once and then used the preset frequently. It is a more easy to use ring than the earlier presets but the aperture click action must be about the stiffest I have ever come across. I would not call it loose but it has no damping resistance at all. But it is a preset with a seemingly undamped preset activation ring. It has the Belomo “H-44 look”, made in 1990, and marked “MC”. One curiosity I a Helios 44-3 with the Minsk Belomo factory mark. The Helios 44 as a type has so many variations and as there were several factories involved some types were made in parallel. I have Princelles Second edition and although he makes mistakes it is a good reference for the FSU camera/lens industry. There were so many Helios 44 lenses about that they were a bit like snowflakes in a snowstorm. I suppose that when there were so many on the market one way to make the one that you were trying to sell actually “sell” was to have a better number designation and it was not all about getting a higher price - just making it seem “more interesting”. So Tom in his normal manner bought the “highest” number because it was the nominal best for no more money. ![]() But at the time there was no difference in asking prices for any of the 44M-* type lenes. I think that I managed to buy myself some fake 44M-7 lenses many years ago. Its entirely possible that your lens was a 44M-5 and the ID ring off a mangled lens was transplanted to your lens to maximize the sale price, and extra $30 from the sale of the 2 lenses just for swapping ID rings is likely very tempting if selling lenses is a big part of your income. I've basically decided to avoid the lenses later than the 44-2 (though I am tempted to get a 44-3 and perhaps one later lens just to compare). Perhaps you can deduce how original it is. center button to zoom, then you could use the control dial to zoom in and out, then center button to exit the zoom mode.īetween this thread: ( has a few that look like OP's lens) An option to return to how the NEX-7 handled playback, ie. An option to return the focus assist zoom to one button press ![]() More peaking options, being able to set peaking sensitivity and a threshold level. Customize the display screen layout, I'd love to have both Histogram and level at the same time. Still waiting for the minimum shutter speed with auto ISO for my NEX-7 and A7r. One photographers junk lens is an artists favorite tool. ![]()
